Computers in the Classroom
In partnership with The Broad Foundation and Washington Mutual

The Computers in the Classroom grant provides children a continuum of computer-based learning from lab to classroom and enables elementary school teachers to integrate hardware and commercially available software with their curriculum to achieve instructional goals.

The Computers in the Classroom grant is a 50/50 challenge grant and includes computer hardware, software, installation, and warranty. Teachers select software from a pre-approved list. See the CIC budget worksheet for the pre-approved software list.

In 2006, Rx for Reading funded 36 computers including software, installation, and warranty. Since the grant's inception, Rx for Reading has donated 1,897 computer to schools and non-profit organizations.

The grant is available for K-5 public and parochial classrooms in Los Angeles County. Applications may be submitted between May 1st and October 31st. Download a CIC application (PDF Format) and CIC budget worksheet (Excel Workbook).
