Computers
in the Classroom
In partnership with The Broad Foundation and
Washington Mutual
The Computers in the Classroom grant provides
children a continuum of computer-based learning from lab to classroom
and enables elementary school teachers to integrate hardware and
commercially available software with their curriculum to achieve
instructional goals.
The Computers in the Classroom grant is a 50/50
challenge grant and includes computer hardware, software, installation,
and warranty. Teachers select software from a pre-approved list.

In 2006, Rx for Reading funded 36 computers including
software, installation, and warranty. Since the grant's inception,
Rx for Reading has donated 1,897 computer to schools and non-profit
organizations.
The grant is available for K-5 public and parochial
classrooms in Los Angeles County. Applications may be submitted
between May 1st and October 31st. Download a CIC

Wireless Laptop Lab
To celebrate The Riordan Foundation’s 25th anniversary, Rx for
Reading introduced a special Wireless Laptop Lab grant for Los
Angeles County public and parochial elementary schools in 2006.
The Wireless Laptop Lab grant is a 50/50 challenge grant. Labs
include up to 30 laptops, a mobile security cart, software, and
security items. Applications may be submitted until Between May
