CONTRIBUTING TO RX FOR READING…CONTRIBUTING TO KIDS

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Rx for Reading is an independent 501(c)(3) organization in its eighteenth year of operation leveraging the Foundation’s grant-making dollars through challenge grants to local schools and agencies, specifically in technology-based literacy programs. Challenges range from a 50/50 to a 90/10 match, with Rx for Reading covering between 50% and 90% of the total cost. The Riordan Foundation covers most of the administrative expenses for Rx for Reading. 95% of all donations to Rx for Reading go directly to the cost of technology, training, and books. Rx for Reading has proudly distributed over 24,700 computers to over 2,120 schools in 40 states and provided funds for over 162,750 books purchased for elementary school classroom libraries.

Before 2000, Rx for Reading’s support came from Richard J. Riordan. Since then, he has continued to support Rx for Reading, but has expanded Rx for Reading’s reach by encouraging other donors to contribute.
