Computers in the Classroom

The Computers in the Classroom (CIC) initiative was developed in response to feedback from our Writing to Read grantees, who came to realize the value of technology as a tool for teaching and learning. The program provides desktop and laptop computers for school classrooms or labs, along with a number of software options. Like the Interactive Whiteboard Grant, CIC is an invitation-only, 50% challenge grant due to the commitment necessary to effectively implement the program.

The grant includes computer hardware installation and a five-year warranty, but any desired software must be specified. Also, because of the importance of professional development in implementing any technology program, a small training requirement must be completed in conjunction with the grant. We will give preference to proposals that clearly demonstrate how the technology and selected software will support your school’s existing instructional learning goals.
