PD Grant Eligibility and Application Information
To be eligible for the 2011 Professional Development Grant, schools must meet the following criteria:
-
Only public and parochial schools within Los Angeles County may apply.
-
Schools must have received an Rx for Reading grant within the last three years, the impact of which will be increased by additional professional development for teachers.
-
Trainings must relate to technology and its integration into the curriculum.
-
SMART Classroom Technology Grantees that received equipment in 2011 are NOT eligible.
In order to be considered for the Professional Development Grant, schools must return the completed application by Extended Deadline: October 14, 2011. Applicants will receive email notification that their submissions have been received. A decline letter will be sent to all schools that are not selected to be a part of the grant. Should an application be selected for further evaluation, an Rx representative may contact the institution to schedule a site visit. The site visit must include time to meet with the principal and all named participants listed on the application. Failure of any participant to be present during the site visit will negatively affect the school’s application. Upon notification of award, schools will have six months to provide the challenge portion; the challenge will be 50% of the total grant value (the amount will vary depending on applicant’s specific request).
Applications are only available to past grantees from the last 3 years, not including the latest cycle of the SMART Classroom Technology Grant. Forms will be provided to schools directly via email. If you believe your school is eligible and have not received an application by August 17, please call the foundation.
